The Courtyard Studio – Art in the heart of Swanage

Andy will draw any design of your choice onto your own pith helmet (£30) or onto a good quality fancy dress pith helmet (£40 hat included). The project started with Andy’s logo pith helmet in June 2020 and he has now sold 12 hand drawn hats, half of them commissioned. A unique gift or memento and a very niche idea.

Andy started this series in June 2020 following Lockdown one. The aim is to get original artwork into the ownership of people who would consider original art as too expensive. Each A6 postcard is unique with the only record being a photo in Andy’s portfolio. Popular with people in flats and holiday caravans as art at a size they can easily display or buy a few pieces and keep in a limited space. £5 each, over 50 drawn and sold to date. This piece was drawn from a Swanage RNLI lifeboat crew member of their first training session in August 2020 after lockdown cancelled all training. It is available as a fine art print in a card mount to fit 16” x 12” frame or a greetings card (7” x 5”). For both items Andy donates money direct to Swanage lifeboat station. Prints are £25 (£5 donation) and cards are £2 each or 3 for £5 (£0.50 donation each card).

‘Art for fun’ is Andy’s main philosophy having started his art as a mindfulness activity to distract him from work and help his own clinical depression. This series of 3 designs so far: Old Harry (as shown), Jurassic beach and Under the sea are fun postcards aimed initially at children so they can buy some art for pocket money, they were used as treats for Swanage shops Trick or Treat evening. Each postcard costs £0.50.
