About The Grape Slayer

Natural Wine: Real wine for real people

Organic, vegan, small batch wines with no additives or preservatives, as nature intended. Better for you, better for the planet and de-freaking-licious!

Isn’t all wine natural? Nope. In Europe over 40 additives can be used in winemaking without legally having to appear on the label & there is potential for manipulation at every stage of the winemaking process.

Natural wine is a vote for transparency, authenticity and independent creatives. A return to land caring, holistic farming & awesome wines bursting with vitality & personality. Strictly grapes, no messing around!

Macabeu Brisat ‘19, Costa D’Or Terroirs Mediterrani, Metamorphika

This wine begins it’s transformation in clay & finishes it’s journey in clay, hence the gorgeous, traditional bottle choice. Brisat is the Catalan term for ‘amber wine’, otherwise referred to as skin contact, & these particular grapes are from the 60 year old Comadellops vineyard- meaning ‘inhabited by wolves’. Fermentation takes place in amphorae’s: 50% pressed & 50% whole bunch for 6 weeks before ageing in used oak for 5 months. This winemaking method is a dying art so be transported on a textural, mineral journey back in time with this beautiful living wine as your guide…Get down with bright, fresh aromatics & perfectly balanced savoury/citrus/mineral vibes. Varietal: Macabeu Tarragona, Spain Organic, Amphora, unfiltered, vegan

The Bullet Dodger ‘20, Delinquente, Australia

This bad boy was the 1st of the Delinquente range I ever tried & sweet baby J it was love at first sip. Oozing brambly blackberry, morello cherries, tobacco, dried herbs & a smidge of chocolate & coffee you couldn’t pay me to dodge this. The palate is silky smooth & medium bodied with a soft line of tannin swirling you towards a spiced fruit finish. I’ve got big love for the small batch, single vineyard, hand-made ethos of the Delinquente gang. They make a point of bucking the trends, breaking the rules and doing things their way. In their words, ‘heed the call…of the wild child’ Varietal: Montepulciano Riverland, Australia Minimal intervention, vegan, small batch

Sciambagn ‘17, Lammidia, Italy

Best buds from the age of 3, Davide & Marco grew into such rampant natty heads that they decided to make their own! Their slogan ‘100% grapes’ is frankly genius & their pash for the ‘glou glou’ (or glug glug, meaning utterly smashable) is hardcore realness. The name is born of a historic dialect, mmidia meaning envy or evil eye, kept at bay by ritual & blessings. This pet nat was made from hand harvested grapes from a precious 1 hectare vineyard grown on clay & limestone. The young vines have evoked aromas of apple, pear & peach & the wtransformation consists only of spontaneous fermentation in bottle, from native yeast growing on the grape skins. Truly minimal intervention. There will likely be residual lees at the bottom for you to swirl in & maybe even an errant grape skin for prosperity! Varietal: Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Villa Celiera, Abruzzo Organic, unfined, unfiltered, no additions whatsoever
