About Itchen Valley Brewery
Many good ideas hit people like a bolt of lightning, a stroke of genius, or a diamond bullet of inspiration.
The idea for our brewery was a little less dramatic; it was the result of a chat between two friends sharing a little down time and a couple of mediocre beers.
That was back in 1997. It was then the idea of forming a brewery and making our own proper beer began to ferment. A pledge was made and a vision was born. Within weeks, a (wholly inadequate) site was found and the equipment (way too big for the site!) was purchased. The following year, our first real brew,
‘Godfathers’, won a ‘Bronze’ at the Great British Beer Festival in the ‘Best Ale in Britain’ category.
20 years, 30 million pints and a brewery relocation later, IVB continues to innovate and thrive.
Nestled in the heart of Hampshire, we passionately brew an unrivaled range of award-winning real ales with pure Hampshire water, yeast, and barley along with the finest hops from around the country and the world. We are a small team but we are very proud of what we brew here at Itchen Valley Brewery.
